Room of Awesomeness

Posted on Mar 18 , 2011 in Blog

Around Providence Zen Center we have no shortage of relaxing meditative spaces. As Robin mentioned in a previous post there are many projects happening on the grounds of the Zen Center, one of which happens to be the creation of the “Room of Awesomeness”. With views overlooking the pond, Diamond Hill Zen Monastery, and the Abbot’s House, this brightly painted, naturally sun lit room is the perfect spot to drink some tea or coffee while reading your favorite book or blog. It even has a fully functioning kitchen!

Last Sunday after the Dharma Talk some of us were able to spend some time together in the Room of Awesomeness. George, Tam, Darlene, Emily and I all shared some of George’s birthday cake while we talked about our shared appreciation for geeky science fiction movies and television. My kind of together action!

I use to live at the Zen Center back in 1988. I can’t believe the difference. The room is awesome! I live in Oman at the moment but will be back in the states in June and will definitely come by the Zen Center!!

Jeff, I love that photo of the Room of Awesomeness included in your blog … great shot of the Tiffany style lampshade in the foreground. I’ll bet there are lots of folks out there who have never stepped a foot into that room before! I am happy this empty space is now being used once again…

I couldn’t leave the lamp shade out of the shot! There is too much awesomeness in that room to capture on camera. It would be neat to see some before and after shots.
